Navigating the Student-Athlete Profile

Overview: This article walks admins and coaches through every section of the redesigned Student-Athlete Profile and how to use it.

Student-Athlete Profile gives you more room to organize and customize how you view student-athlete data, and it stores significantly more data fields than the previous version.

  • My View dashboard: Pin your most-used fields from across the profile into one custom view.
  • More data fields: Store more student-athlete information than the previous profile version supported, including standard fields (like NCAA ID) that most schools no longer need to create as custom fields.
  • Inline editing: Update most fields directly where you see them, without opening "Edit Profile".

This article covers the following:

Viewing the new SA profile

  1. Click into a student-athlete's profile from your roster.
  2. All SA profiles have been automatically upgraded to the new version.

Once you're in the new profile, you'll see a row of tabs across the top: My View, Roster Info, Academics, Financial Aid, Eligibility, Disclosures, Records, Activity log, and Settings.

Building Your "My View" Dashboard

What this tab does: My View is a new tab that lets you build a personalized dashboard by pinning fields from the Roster Info, Academics, or Financial Aid tabs into one place so the data points you check most often live in a single view.

  1. Open the My View tab.
  2. Add a field to your dashboard using either method:
  • Use the search bar to find a specific field, then click the star icon it to pin it to My View.
  • While viewing another tab (Roster Info, Academics, or Financial Aid), click the star icon next to any field to save it to your My View tab.

Starred fields appear in My View immediately, so you can build your dashboard as you work rather than all at once.

Roster Info

What this tab does: Roster Info holds a student-athlete's core biographical and program details, organized into Personal Info, Recruiting Info, Address and Housing, Emergency Contact and Family Information, Sport Information, and any custom fields your school has added.

  1. Open the Roster Info tab.
  2. Use the search bar at the top of the window to jump to a specific field.
  3. Click directly into any field to edit it, or choose an option from its dropdown - you no longer have to open Edit Profile to make most changes. Edit Profile in the top-right corner is still available if you'd rather make edits from that view.
  4. Toggle between academic years, or add a custom data field, using the controls at the top of the tab.

Spry has added add many new standard data fields to improve data tracking and consistency, while requiring fewer custom fields.

Academics

What this tab does: Academics shows a student-athlete's academic standing, your school's custom academic fields, and their class schedule.

  1. Open the Academics tab. You'll see, from top to bottom: Academic Standing, your custom fields, and the student-athlete's class schedule.
  2. Click into any field to type an update, or choose a value from its dropdown.
  3. Use the Academic year dropdown to view a different year, and select + Add datafield to add a custom field.

What this tab does: Eligibility tracks and shares a student-athlete's eligibility status with other admins and coaching staff, broken out by season.

  1. Open the Eligibility tab. At the top, you'll see: Seasons used, Clock started, Seasons remaining, First enrollment at this institution, and First enrollment at any institution.
  2. Review eligibility by season - Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring.
  3. For the current year, click Edit Eligibility to update Roster status, Redshirt status, or denote a medical hardship waiver.
  4. Click the + button to add a comment related to the student-athlete's eligibility.

  1. Open the Activity log tab to see the full history.

Anytime information on the profile is changed, edited, or updated, it's logged here automatically.

Settings

What this tab does: Settings lets you manage a student-athlete's Spry account access.

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. From here, you can:
  • Reset the student-athlete's password (non-SSO schools only).
  • Send a new invitation email or copy their invitation link.
  • Deactivate the student-athlete's Spry account. Deactivating a student-athlete's account turns off their access to Spry.
