Defining Event Category Types

CARA (Countable Athletically-Related Activity): For the use of NCAA D1 or D2 schools, this event type is used for practices, skill instruction, required individual workouts, etc. 

RARA (Required Athletically-Related Activity): For the use of NCAA D1 schools, this event type is used for required team-building activity, athletically-related travel, team promotional events, team nutrition meetings, team meals, etc. 

Voluntary Activities: Activities that are not required or recorded, not observed by a coaching staff member, and for D1/D2 schools, are exempt from the NCAA CARA limits. 

Recruitment (Phone call): Electronic correspondence during which human voice exchange occurs for the purpose of securing the enrollment of a prospective student-athlete.
Recruitment (Evaluation):  Any off-campus activity designed to assess the academic qualifications or athletics ability of a prospective student-athlete.

Off Day: Days where student-athletes will not have athletic activities.

Administrative: Activities such as compliance meetings, academic meetings that do not count against CARA limits (for D1 or D2).

Personal: Used for your own personal events. 

Other: Miscellaneous activities.
*CCCAA schools should use this when creating events. 

Home Contest (CARA): For the use of NCAA D1 or D2 schools, this event for a home contest will count for three hours. 

Away-From-Home-Contest (CARA): For the use of NCAA D1 or D2 schools, this event for an away contest will count for three hours.
